Volunteers needed for hearing test Pilot study
Will you lend us an ear?
Volunteers sought for hearing test pilot study
We are looking for volunteers to participate in the next stage of testing the accuracy and efficiency of our novel hearing test technology.
The study comprises of a single 1-hour test session where one of our test administrators will conduct two hearing assessments: i) a standard hearing test (known as the pure-tone audiogram), and ii) a hearing test using our new Hearing Diagnostics test technology.
Volunteers will be unpaid and will be asked to attend testing sessions in either Glasgow (Milngavie and city centre), Edinburgh (various locations), or Fife (Dunfermline).
Volunteers must meet the following criteria:
- older than 18 years
- normal hearing or hearing impaired (suspected or formally diagnosed)
- no existing mobility restrictions
What participants get out of the study
Volunteers have the opportunity to receive an otoscopy examination of their ears by our trained test administrators. This procedure involves the test administrator looking inside the ear canal with a small camera, the otoscope, to determine if there is any ear wax build-up or other abnormalities. If we find anything, we will inform you so that you can take steps to take care of your ears.

Volunteers will also learn about their hearing ability and receive a recommendation on whether to seek further care with a hearing care professional. Further to this, the test administer will discuss hearing care along with providing an information flyer which dives into more detail on hearing care and hearing loss.

If you’re interested in participating or if you have any queries, please email our test administrators via participants@hdiags.co.uk.
We look forward to hearing from you!
